“All that you touch. You Change. All that you Change. Changes You. The only lasting truth. Is Change. God is Change.” - Octavia E. Butler

Through Ecopsychology, the wisdom of I Ching contemplative practice, pendulum inquiry, embodied dowsing, and deep listening, we cultivate synchronization with life. The future is not fixed. But instead, a path dreaming us forward.

My approach to the I Ching is rooted in Liu Ming's CHANGING Zhouyi: The Heart of the Yijing and Stephen Karcher and Julie Chase-Daniel's I Ching Mothering Change. Their work reminds us that divination is not separate from ordinary life. It is a lifelong discipline of observing, participating, and responding to an impermanent world with greater care.

Liu Ming passed away in April of 2015, and Da Yuan Circle continues his legacy. His commentary can be ordered here: https://www.dayuancircle.org/pages/liu-ming

Return the Dreamer to the Leader Monthly Meet Up

Dreaming the Rehydration of the West: Environmental movements need more than strategy. They also need imagination

Inspired by Bill Plotkin's understanding of the Dreamer as a mature expression of the Western Gate and informed by the practice of Path Dreaming, this monthly gathering cultivates dream practice as an essential part of ecological leadership. Rather than treating dreams as private experiences, we learn to receive them as part of a living conversation between ourselves, our communities, and the landscapes we are called to serve.

Together we develop symbolic literacy, deepen our relationship with place, and create space for dreams, images, and intuition to participate alongside science, planning, and collaboration. Dreaming becomes a practice of listening for the deeper patterns that are already moving through the watershed and through ourselves.

Each gathering is rooted in the work of rehydrating the West, both literally and symbolically. We explore how our dreams can support our health, mind, watershed restoration, regenerative agriculture, conservation hydrology, living schoolyards, and nature-based solutions. By tending both the inner and outer water cycles, we strengthen our capacity to bring meaningful work into the world with greater power, clarity, humility, and imagination.

This is a practice for people committed to translating vision into navigation and action allowing the dream to mature into actual metamorphoses.

Monthly Gathering: This gathering is intentionally kept small to cultivate trust, continuity, and meaningful dialogue. If you feel called to participate, I'd love to hear from you. Please contact me for an invitation.

The Practice of Permission

Every place already has a council. Our work is to learn how to introduce ourselves.

Many of the challenges we face today are not simply technical. They are relational.

The practice of permission is a return to cultural humility. Before we act, we learn to ask. Before we change a place, we take time to understand it.

Before we assume authority, we acknowledge those who have come before us, consider those who will come after us, and seek relationship with those who are already here.

This means learning to ask permission of the Indigenous peoples of a place and recognizing that the land itself holds histories, relationships, and voices that deserve our respect. It also asks us to consider those who cannot speak for themselves, including watersheds, wildlife, future generations, and the unseen relationships that shape every landscape.

Asking permission requires the humility to receive whatever answer comes, including no. When the answer is no, we let go and move on. When permission is given, we can begin to ask…

What is this place already dreaming?

What is being asked of me?

and how might we all participate in bringing this dream to life?
